Using internet for communication

Internet: There are million of computers from nearly every country in the world connected to the internet. And more millions are of internet users.

Modem: Enables the computer to transfer data over the phone line+connects the computer to the internet speeds measured in b p s bits per second.

e.g: Kbps killo=1000

Mbps Mega=1000000

Internet communication

1. Dial up accounts, where you did into your internet accounts through the modem.
2. ADSL                                                                                                                                             People in many countries use internet to communicate. Most people write e-mail to their friends+family. Some people download software+games. Often this software is shareware and it is important to pay person who wrote it.

              URL= Uniform Resource Locator.

               URL specifies where the identified resource is available and the protocol for retrieving it. In popular     usage and many technical documents, it is often confused as a synonym for Uniform Resource Identifier(URI), which are not required to specify how to locate the resource.

     Example of URL:

• http://www.yahoo.com/  which indicates using http protocol information resides on the http://www.yahoo.com.(hos%20tmachine/)
• while http: hypertext transfer protocol is necessary for connecting two web pages across the globe.

   Multimedia:  Make application with sound +graphics can also put animation.

     e.g: Riven is a popular multimedia game that use sound+graphics.

      It is a media that contents, utilizes a combination of different content forms.

      Multimedia file extension:

      .avi (Auto Video Interleaved). This is MS windows usual format for video files.

       .bmp (Bitmap). This can be photo.

       .gif (graphic interchange format). A 256 color photo (specially for graphic).

       .jpg (Joint Photographics Experts Group). It is high quality image saved in a compressed format

       .wav (wave from sound) sound file for windows environment.

        .mid (MIDI) song for storing large song file.

        

     CD-ROM: Compact Disc Read Only Memory.

      It is an optical technology used for storing digital information on a plastic 12 cm disc.        

       Alta Vista is search engine.

      

       Search engine is a program that searches documents for specified keywords and returns a list of the documents where the keywords were found.

     

          http: Hyper Text Transfer Protocol used for home page on the www.

           FTP: File Transfer Protocol acess files+ transfer them on your computers.

            Gopher: text based information retrieved system.

           

              Telnet: connect your computer directly to another computer.

           

             Kiosk : An Interactive kiosk is computer terminal that provides information access via electronic    methods.

            Business on Internet: more and morebusiness are writing web pages(HTML) or thinking.

            The internet will change the way shop, make friends and so on.

        

             To make e-business we need for:      

1. HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language for web page).
2. Java script or VB script to write functions that are embedded in HTML.
3. ASP (Active Server Page) or CGI (common Gate way interface, we write or design program to accept +to return data between client and server).

            E-bussiness is conduct of business on the internet.
